Since I had late start, I took the chance to eat at this apparently well-known place called Julie's Café with my girl, Shannen. Love you, Shay! Although the place doesn't seem that appealing and looks like a typical donut shop, you are so wrong. Get a chance to eat at Julie's Café, and you'll see why. Anyways, I've read so many good reviews about this place on Yelp! and we couldn't help, but try it ourselves. And what's better than catching up with a friend while eating a delicious breakfast before finals, right?

Our yummy breakfast

The lady in the front was extremely nice and everything about Julie's Café had that "make yourself feel right at home" theme.  I ordered the bacon bagel sandwich and a regular-sized Strawberries Forever smoothie. My sandwich was so delicious that just thinking about it right now makes my stomach growl. My strawberry drink was probably the best smoothie I've ever drank. Since they used real fruits, it tasted so fresh and cold, which was perfect for the warm weather. Sorry, I'm really not good at writing food reviews!

But I really recommend getting this sandwich, unless you're not a bacon lover like me. So Shannen ordered the veggie bagel sandwich and the kale smoothie, which is particularly famous in Julie's Café. The kale smoothie is basically a veggie and fruit drink, but you mainly taste the fruits. Julie's Café was such a good place to eat and we'll definitely be going back there again very soon!

I'll talk to you guys soon,

Melanie

This Sunday, I woke up at around 6:30 a.m. for my sister's volleyball game, which was all the way in Westminster. After 10 hours later (not even kidding), the game finally ended. My family and I ended up eating at a Vietnamese cuisine in Garden Grove. Honestly, I thought it was an Italian restaurant because the interior and exterior design of the place didn't seem at all Vietnamese style. Just search up this place and you'll see what I mean. The dimly-lit restaurant was pretty roomy, cool, and extremely comfortable.

got this off their website, but this is how it looks

I'm really awful at giving food reviews, but if I could rate it, I'd give it a 5 out of 5. Everything was so delicious and they had really good service. Next post will be up very soon! :) Quick Note: I'm still learning how to use Blogger, so please bear with all the weird font sizes and different font styles! And thanks for taking the time to view my blog! (:

LACMA TRIP | 5/16/14 |

Last Friday, I went to LACMA afterschool for the first time. It was for a bio extra credit trip, but who would pass that up, especially if it meant going to LA, right? Anyways, I was extremely lucky to go. Funny story actually. During 5th period, my bio teacher refunded my money for the trip, because apparently, it was already filled. In just two days, the trip was booked (fifty students could only go) and I unfortunately turned mine in on the third day. So six people, including me, had our money refunded and the worst part about it was the fact that my teacher gave it back on the day of the trip! I already told my mom I was going.  I planned on going to the bio trip with my friend, Valerie, but I texted her telling her I couldn't go.
Afterschool, she called me and told me she didn't want to go anymore. But after 10 minutes of insisting that she went, Val finally gave in. Still she literally dragged me off school campus to where all the bio people were waiting for the bus. I felt super awkward standing there and it literally took all my courage to go up to my bio teacher and ask if there were any extra seats. He said if there were extras, I could go, so he told me to wait. And I did. From the time when Valerie dragged me to the bus, I knew I had no chance of going and I was the only person waiting for a spot in the bus. And guess what?? THEY HAD 4 EXTRA SEATS. Literally, the luckiest day of my life. If not for Valerie, I wouldn't have gone at all and never experience such an amazing trip! Above it all, Praise the Lord because He is so good to me!
walked to Chipotle with Val, which I haven't eaten at for 3 years
accidentally walked around LACMA without our tickets, so we had to go back and get them

amazing view from the longest escalator ever | creds to Val |
all the portraits and exquisite items in LACMA were just so simple and stunning
beautiful view of the LACMA lights!

Overall, the LACMA bio trip was one of the most wonderful experiences in my life. I'll definitely be going back. Thanks to Valerie again for making this memorable for me! Everything was so simple and plain in the art galleries, but something about that, gave it a stunning, beautiful perspective. If you are looking for a place to just hang out with friends or family, go to LACMA. You won't regret it!

Yours truly,
Melanie

| happy mother's day! (late post) |

This past Saturday, I celebrated my sister's 17th birthday with my church group.
It was a surprise karaoke party. Props to my mom for planning it out and also my friend, Tiff, for making it happen! Anyways, it was super fun. We rented a big room with an outdoor view and pool table, so you could say, we were living the life. Haha.

Our pool table!
The party lasted for 3 hours and after that, our parents picked us up. We went straight away to celebrate our Mother's day dinner! Once my sister and I got out of the car, we randomly started taking pictures of ourselves in the parking lot. And in my opinion, they actually turned out pretty good. BUT BE WARNED OF MY CHINKINESS. Creds to my sista and momma:

don't mind my awkwardness
Overall, it was a super, duper fun day spent with friends and family! Remember to tell your mom how much you love them because one day, it may be too late. Anyways, HAPPY (LATE) MOTHER'S DAY!!!
