FAREWELL 2014!

It's amazing when you wake up the next day and it's no longer 2014, but a new year. Oh how time flies! I must say 2014 did have its ups-and-downs. However through the guidance of the Lord, I overcame those difficulties. So in a way, I am grateful for everything 2014 threw at me.

Here's why 2014 was a special, memorable year:

- I discovered the blogging community!!!

- I found my love for photography and painting.

- I re-discovered Netflix, Skype, Wattpad, and Spotify.

- I received my first polaroid camera.

- I got accepted to a book company's teen council.

- I went to my first leadership development camp.

                               - I traveled across 5 states in one week.

                                    - I went to my first Christian concert.

                                         - Amy from Karmin sang to me. (AH!!!)

                                  - I got my first pair of running shoes.

One of my goals for 2015 is to create a NEW look for this blog! I can't wait to start. :)
Anyway, I'm excited to see what 2015 holds for me. Goodbye 2014 and hello 2015!

TTYS,
Mel

C.B. BLOG SERIES//DAY 6

Merry Christmas to you all! I hope today you created special memories with the ones you love. Cherish each and every moment you have with them. Laugh, smile, and be content.
Started the day off with an invigorating morning walk around the neighborhood.
Hey, I'm still a kid at heart (Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Cabin Fever)

 TTYS,

Mel

C.B. BLOG SERIES//DAY 3

Ah, I'm a little behind for this blog series. To prevent confusion, I'm blogging for yesterday.

So yesterday, I painted my nails a pistachio color. What do you think?

I've been craving the cookies 'n' crème drops from Hershey's. It's so good!

Later on, my family and I went to my grandma's house to eat dinner. Then, we went to Harkins to watch The Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies. In my opinion, I thought it was an "okay" movie, but considering that I'm really critical when it comes to movies, others probably thought it was really good. You should go watch it!

TTYS,

Mel

C.B. BLOG SERIES//DAY 1 & 2

Hey everyone. Since I'm officially on Christmas break, I've decided to create my own Christmas  break (C.B.) blog series! I'll try my very, very best to blog everyday. You guys probably think I'm   crazy due to the fact I only blog 2-3 times a month and to be blogging everyday.. well that's out of the question! But being homework-free and staying home, I can now dedicate my time to this blog. I think this is a great idea because it makes me want to do something productive and spontaneous everyday. Let the C.B. series begin!
So right afterschool on Friday, my family and I drove to Las Vegas. I basically spent my whole weekend in the Sin City. Here are a few things I did: went on the High Roller (1st time), went to Circus Circus (my cousin spent $20 on me just so I could win a game -_-), Bean Boozled Challenge (oh gosh, the moldy cheese), went shopping in Grand Central Plaza, go to the Hershey's Factory, ate at a bunch of buffets, took a tram to Monte Carlo, and walk through a Christmas garden (picture above).
I had tons of fun in Las Vegas which is really surprising cause for teens, there's really nothing to do except stay in your hotel room or eat lots of food. I spent a lot of my time with my cousins and I'm just so grateful for them. Sorry for making this a long post. Anyways, stay tuned for Day 3 of the C.B. series!
Talk to you soon,
Mel

THE LIEBSTER AWARD

Wow. MY FIRST EVER NOMINATION. I never would have dreamed of being nominated for the Liebster Award. I would like to thank a wonderful blogger named Trissa from trissa marie (go check out her blog!) for nominating me.

This is so exciting! :)

These are the questions she asks me:

1. How did you decide on the title of your blog?
When I first created this blog, I struggled to find a name for it. I settled with the name "Miie Life" for about 5-6 months. Two months ago, I decided that I wanted my blog with my name in it (I sound really conceited rn). I honestly don't know how I came up with the other half of my blog name. Yeah, so that's how my blog name came to be.

2. Choose one word that sums up the heart of your blog and why.
Miscellaneous. Because one day, I'll want to post about my vacation trips, but then the next, I want to post a DIY. You could say I'm really random.

3. What’s your favorite pastime other than blogging?
Omg. Netflix. 100x Netflix.

4. What is your favorite aspect of blogging?
I'm that type of person who loves to share what I do and blog it. I also love learning new things like using html and changing my blog design. Blogging makes me really happy :)

5. Which recipe, project, or idea on my blog would you most like to try yourself?
"The Out and About Dress" really caught my eye. Everything about the dress is so girly, vintage, and floral. It's definitely something I would like to make!

6. Where does your blog inspiration come from?
My life experiences.

7. What is one country in the world you would like to visit? Why?
Definitely the U.K. More specifically, England. I hear they have very cute restaurants.

8. If you have children, what are their names? If not, what are your favorite boy & girl names?
Um, I don't have any children. And I'm not really sure what I would name them.

9. A long-lost relative leaves you a large sum of money. What do you do with it?
Spend it wisely. I would spend some of it on my family and church, but then save the rest for future needs.

10. In your opinion, what is the best blog post you’ve written so far? (Include the link!)
My best blog post would probably be this weather is driving me crazy.

11. Where do you see yourself in five years time?
Attending a hopefully good college. Being a positive, confident person.

Here are the lovely 11 blogs I nominate:

1. Unadorned Gifts
2. Hannah Delacour
3. About me

4. Simply Love
5. Marlia's Secret
6. April's Life
7. Cloudy Dreams
8. (Almost) Completely Mad
9. Wilde in the City
10. Random Rants by Rcubed
11. filigree, the writing alpaca

These are the steps to accepting your award:
  • Answer the eleven questions given to you by the person that nominated you (see below). Please comment on this post with your link when you are done so I can see your answers!
  • In your post, link back to the person/blog who nominated you and give a little thank you shout out.
  • After completing the questions, nominate eleven bloggers with under 200 followers on the social media platform of your choice, and give them eleven  questions of your choice.
  • Notify your nominees of their nomination, and provide a link to your post so that they know what to do.

These are your questions:

1. How did you decide on the title of your blog?

2. Choose one word  that sums up the heart of your blog and why.

3. What are some of your favorite hobbies?

4. What is your favorite aspect of blogging?

5. What kind of music do you listen to?

6. What are some of your favorite books?

7. What is an interesting fact about you?

8.  What is your biggest pet peeve?

9. Who inspires you the most?

10. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

11. What is one goal you are working towards?

Thanks again, Trissa, for nominating me!

Everyone who participates please leave a link in the comments below so I can enjoy reading your answers! :) Have fun with this!

Talk to you soon!

A TRIP TO THE BAY AREA

Pebble Beach (above)

How was your Thanksgiving? I hope you stuffed yourselves with delicious home-cooked meals!

For Thanksgiving, my family and I took a trip to Pebble Beach in Monterey, then we headed up north to visit my distant relatives. I absolutely loved the breezy, chilly weather in San Fran. We stayed at a hotel for 2 days then returned home after an exhausting 7-hour drive back.

Anyways, I could say my Thanksgiving break was well-spent with my wonderful family. Now that school has started again, I am putting this blog on hold (maybe until the weekend). In the meantime, I'll talk to you guys soon!

xoxo,
Mel

10 Things I'm Thankful For This Thanksgiving

1.  God

Through every obstacle I've overcome, God has always been there for me. He has been so gracious to me when I didn't deserve it. I continue to thank Him everyday for being able to live in His presence. I would literally be lost without Him.

2. Family

I am incredibly blessed to have such a caring, wonderful family. Words seriously can't even describe how much I love them.

3. Friends

How can I survive high school without these people. I honestly will say that I have 2-3 really close friends. These people are willing to put up with my never ending rants about life. They are so encouraging and supportive, which is all I really need atm. High school's been draining me out a lot lately, so they're basically my "saviors."

4. Music

Music is my lifesaver. Music is my stress reliever. Music is something I look forward to everyday after coming home from school.  Music completes me. Enough said.

5. Netflix

OMG. NETFLIX IS LIFE (totally not an overused saying). I think I spend more time on Netflix than schoolwork. Whoops. #sorrynotsorry

6. Sleep

Thank goodness for late starts at school.

7. Food/Water

Because food and water are an essential part of living.

8. Pinterest

pinterest. pinterest. pinterest.

9. Family trips

Cause family trips bring back childhood memories.

10. My dog

Ah, Barney (name of my dog). He's just so... FLUFFY.

I could probably write a whole list of other things I'm thankful for, but these stood out the most. HAPPY THANKSGIVING, EVERYONE! Eat lots of turkey!

Lots of love,
Mel

cheating is not the solution

I just wanted to address how cheating is NEVER the solution when it comes to finding the easy way out.
I found this extremely adorable
Last Thursday, I took a chem test and 15 minutes later, I heard a guy sitting diagonally from me, ask a girl behind him “Do you want the answer sheet?” and after that, it exploded from there. Not literally, but almost everybody was copying down the answers from a tiny sticky note. It was only 30 minutes into the test, and almost everybody was done, except for me and 9 other people. And let me tell you, I don’t even know how the sub (we had a sub these past 2 weeks) didn’t suspect a thing because it was a pretty long, difficult test.

So going back to cheating, I was amazed by how easy it was to fall into temptation. I’m sure the people who cheated weren’t thinking about what came first, their morals and values. Maybe their reasons were the pressure to do well in school or impress their peers/parents. However, cheating is unacceptable. The worst thing is when you know you’re doing something wrong, but you use an excuse like “Hey, I’m not gonna fail this test” or “Everybody’s doing it, so it wouldn’t hurt if I did.”

I found this Bible verse online; I could not agree more with what this verse says.

Matthew 26:41 says, "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The Spirit is willing, but the body is weak."

I love this verse so much because it’s one of those encouraging quotes that I always need to keep in mind. Sorry about my long rant, but I felt like this needed to be addressed.

By the way, I apologize for not posting for the past two weeks. I’ve been hella busy, but I’ll try to post again sometime this week. Also, my sister and I recently posted a Youtube video (yes, I sing), and it would mean the world to us, if you guys could go check out our channel. Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2n-9f7m7ADg

Thanks for stopping by,

- Mel :)

cute & casual fall outfits: my style

Hey guys! My calendar lied to me because fall started last week, but this whole week felt like 100+ degrees;
I'm crying right now because Pinterest has all these trendy fall outfits and it hurts knowing I can't wear them.
Anyways, I put together my favorite fall outfits for you guys.
If you haven't noticed already, I'm a sweater type-of-girl, and I might go crazy if fall doesn't come soon enough!

this weather is driving me crazy

Hello again! This is probably one of the few times I'll post in the same week. But, I decided to post a few pics that my sis took of me because my mom recently bought a new camera lense; we decided to test it out. Oh yeah, and I'm sorry you had to witness my awkward "model" poses.

fall season is here

(Ehi (left) & me (right)
You don't realize how excited I am for the fall season. These past weeks have been awfully hot and humid,  well where I live. But now that fall season is here,
I can't wait to step out in cooler, comfier clothes.
1/2 preview of my fall OOTD

School's okay so far. Wednesday was by far the best day of this week. Afterschool, I walked with one of my Christian college friends to a nearby plaza, where we sat down and had one of our deep talks for almost two hours. It was one of the best two hours I've ever spent. After our convo, I felt very content, grateful, and refreshed.
You guys should try it sometime! Just plan a hangout with one of your closest friends and catch up on stuff because it seriously relieves all that stress you may be going through.
I'll talk to you guys next week!

It's Been a While

Hey everyone! Wow, it's been more than month since I've last posted. And for that, I greatly apologize! However, I do have my reasons, and I'd rather not type them out. Anyways, I am truly sorry about the long wait, but from now on, I'll be posting once every one to two weeks, starting next week!

One of the reasons why I've been inactive is because high school came along. Yes, it came back to haunt me, but we'll get through this together. I started last month and it's already been hectic for me. However this year, I'm extremely lucky to get good teachers in all my classes. I'm taking choir and swim as electives, and it's going great so far. On Saturdays, I cram all my piano homework and always end up getting yelled at in piano class the next day.

I've already created a goal list for myself this year because we all need a bit of motivation, right? I really, really hope this year ends well for me because freshmen year was disastrous. Period. So you can already tell what the next blog posts are. You got it. My life as a high school student.

Fullerton Arboretum

HEYY GUYS (AND GIRLS)! So today, I hung out with one of my best friends, Celeste, at the Fullerton Arboretum. It was super duper pretty, but I must say, there were quite a lot of people and it was pretty humid. But overall, it was a great day to get out of the house and explore God's creation! With the beautiful scenery in the background, we  couldn't resist having our own mini photo shoot. These are a just a few of my favorites. Oh, and I edited them a lot.. as you can tell. HEHE.
AWKWARDLY STARE INTO EACH OTHER'S EYES. LOL.

Celeste is so stunning UGH not fair
MAMA RENEE <3
HAUNTINGLY BEAUTIFUL (:
I know I edited pretty much all of these, except for the third picture. But I decided to test my photo editing skills, and wouldn't you say it turned out pretty nicely? NO? OH, OKAY...

I'll talk to you people soon!

A Note + First Time taking the Metrolink

So first of all, I want all of you guys (and girls) to know that this blog is basically a JOURNAL ABOUT MY LIFE. Please don't take this blog seriously! This is just to let you guys get an inside scoop on my life adventures (not really).

SO ANYWAYS, the title says it all. Yesterday, I spent the day with the fam bam. We took the Metrolink from Fullerton to San Juan Capistrano. SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO. I had no idea why we went to SJC cause there was literally nothing to do; we ended up taking a bus to Dana Point, where we walked the pier and watched surfers.. well, surf. So after that, we ate at a delicious café, and took a bus back to the Metrolink station. Overall, super duper FUN day and I took a bunch of pics. HOPE YOU ENJOY MY ADVENTURE AT SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO. :)

I believe it was Dana Point beach? LOL
the café we ate at after walking the pier

Find some time for your family! This was a super refreshing, stress-reliever trip, and I'm so glad I got to spend it with my family because it's been a while since we had time together. Appreciate every little moment together and cherish it. Anyways, enough of my deep philosophies (jk). I'll talk to you guys (and girls) later!

- Melanie :)
